Well it is official AND final, Myself and Jason Taylor (Mammoth Cave Hunter) are heading up to Alaska for a bowhunt for sitka blacktails, August 13-27.
Booked our airline tickets, booking a bush flight this week, and all is left to do is show up.
We are going to fly into Kodiak Island and do a Do It Yourself backpacking hunt after a short bush flight out to a secluded Alpine lake. We will have 9-10 days afield, with nothing but that found in our packs for the trip. Should be quite the experience, especially with 3 buck tags each between us!
As far as specifics, I won't go any farther than Kodiak, if you are interested in the trip, do your own research

, which could begin and end with a call to me. I can point you in the right direction, just not publicly out of respect for my source of information.
The entire hunt can be done for <$3k, looking like it'll be right around $2500 total. This doesn't include the extensive gear list required though. Far less of a price tag than most assume for a once in a lifetime hunt in Alaska. Heck, alot of guys I know pay a grand more to head north 1 state to whitetail hunt for 5 days, all about making choices.
Just sharing my excitement for the hunt to come, and will make a picture post upon getting home and settled back in, hopefully with plenty of success pics.
It hasn't been decided officially yet, but we may even have video footage of the trip.
